Kirchdorf - baptism -1753 - Streit - three sisters and their parents' names
The record is from FamilySearch: Tauf-Rodel, Staatsarchiv Bern, K Kirchdorf 3, on page 35, year 1753, 1st entry on the left for Salome Streit.
I have a question about the baptism record for Salome who I think is a sister of Maria/Mareÿ Streit. Also, I listed the reasons why I think Bendicht Streit and Christina Trachsel are the parents of Maria/Mareÿ Streit wife of Hanns Küenzi who were married in 1769 in Oberdiessbach. I would appreciate to know if you think the reasons are sufficient or more information is needed.
Thank you!
den 24. Junÿ. [1753]
Inf: Salome Streit
Par: Bendicht Streit in der Insel.
Christina Trachsel
Test: [word crossed out] Burkhard Küentzi v Jaberg.
Anna Äbersold von Kilchdorff. Hans Wängers Eheweib. Question: Hans "Wengers" was listed as the husband of witness Anna Äbersold in Anna Streit's baptism record in 1751 (previous post). I think this is the same witness and husband. Is Wängers just a spelling variation of Wengers?
Anna Trachsel. Hans Martis zu Kilchdorff Eheweib.
My reasons why Bendicht Streit and Christina Trachsel are the correct parents:
1) In the baptism records for Maria/Mareÿ Streit's two sons, there were two sisters of Maria who were listed as witnesses:
Johannes Küenzi, baptized 27 September 1772 (previously posted). The sister in the record is Ana Streit.
Christian Küenzi, baptized 8 January 1775 (also previously posted). The other sister in the record is Salome Streit.
So Maria/Mareÿ Streit has two known sisters which is very helpful.
2) I went through the Kirchdorf baptism register (same as above) and found records for three sisters who I think are a match. My last two posts and this post are those records:
Maria Strÿtt, year 1749
Ana Streit, year 1751
Salome Streit, year 1753
3) The ages of the three sisters in their later corresponding records:
Maria baptized in 1749 would have been 20 years old in the marriage record for her and Hanns Küenzi dated 1769, so she would have been of the right age to marry.
Ana baptized in 1751 would have been 21 years old as a witness in Johannes Küenzi's 1772 baptism record. Her age would be appropriate.
Salome baptized in 1753 would have been 22 years old as a witness in Christian Küenzi's 1775 baptism record. Her age would also have been appropriate.
4) The possible parents of the three sisters are Bendicht Streit and Christina Trachsel.
The only information from the records about the parents is a residence or place of citizenship. The baptism records for the three sisters lists the father Bendicht as either a "resident in the Insel" or a "citizen of Kilchdorff". Maria/Mareÿ's Streit's marriage Schein record (year 1769) says she is "from the Insel" and her marriage record says she's a "citizen of Kilchdorf". Similarly, the baptism records for the children of Maria say she is either "from the Insel or a citizen of Kirchdorf". So that's an exact match to the information about the possible father Bendicht Streit.
I think Bendicht Streit and Christina Trachsel are the parents of Maria/Mareÿ Streit and her sisters Ana and Salome who were listed as witnesses. I did not see another set of parents (with the father's surname Streit) in the baptism register who had three daughters named Maria, Ana and Salome. There were other sets of parents in which the father's surname was Streit, but the father was not "from the Insel".

I fully agree with you: children baptised 1749 / 1751 / 1753 by the same parents makes sense - and unless we have a second couple Bendicht Streit and Christina Trachsel (in that time frame) you are fairly safe to assume three sisters in this case. Identical witnesses also point in this direction.
The crossed out name is Jacob.
And yes: ä and e will change frequently for the same name.
Age of the witnesses is less important - I have seen witnesses aged 15 … and much older.

That's a good point about whether there is a second couple named "Bendicht" Streit and Christina Trachsel in the same time frame. Actually, I have found six other baptism records for possible siblings of Maria/Mareÿ Streit. The years range from 1743 to 1761 (excluding the years 1749, 1751, 1753) but there is a discrepancy because the parents in those records are "Bentz" Strÿtt or Streit and Christina Trachsel. Thode says "Bentz" is a form of "Bernhard" which is not "Bendicht". A question about that will be in a new post.
Thank you very much for your answers about the sisters' parents and my other questions. Also that the age of witnesses will have a wide range of years!

Unfortunately Benz can stand for both - Benedicht and Bernhard. Have you got the marriage entry for B. Streit and Christina Trachsel - or even two of them?

Yes, I have just one marriage record for Bendicht Strÿtt and Christina Trachsel. Can I post the marriage record image here or on a new post?

Well - I had suggested a structure - so I should recommend to stick to it 😁 ... doesn't really matter: I'll see it any way.
