What is the meaning of the word Kritbruksarbetare in the occupation column in Swedish household examination records in the early 1900s?
I keep seeing my ancestor's occupation listed as Kritbruksarbetare in the Swedish household examination records in the early 1900s. I found out that bruksarbetare means foundry worker or iron worker which matches up with his occupation once he arrived in America but I can't seem to figure out the krit portion of the word. Any help would be appreciated!

Krita means chalk.

Thank you for your reply! But I'm unsure of what a chalk iron worker would be.

Krita can also mean limestone.
When iron is produced from ore in blast furnace and coal is used as a fuel, sulfur is also present. Sulfur is not wanted and then limestone is used to bind sulfur so that sulfur can be taken away.
