Child appears in census but not in baptism register or skipped in a census

I'm still new to Swiss research. I found the family in the various census records, noting the various children through the years, then went through the parish baptism records to find all their baptism dates.
- I found a child in the census record but no record of her birth/baptism - is this "common"
- is it common for a or some children to not be included in a census (skipped over), but found in a prior and later census record?

Hello Gina,
I don't think such a general question can get a general answer: there are too many possibilities for entries missing in different types of records - or being just missed. Yes - I have seen examples of "missing" entries - but would not consider this common.
Describe the example you have just encountered: which canton / which community or parish / which type of census / which time frame / which surname / ...?
