Translation Request Please
The above is from the death record of my great grandfather, Johann Herman Witte. I've been able to make out the dates, etc. from his death but this section is the remarks or comments column and I'm not able to make out what it says. I would really like to know what it says.

I read this as:
Witte lebte getrennt von seiner Frau und war ein arger Branntweintrinker.
Translation:
Witte lived separately from his wife and was a heavy drinker of brandy.
Not exactly what a priest should do: De mortuis nil nisi bene (Say nothing but good of the dead).

Ulrich, I apologize for the late response. I am new to using this community but never received notification of the response. Your translation is so much appreciated and although not the most positive thing to hear, goes along with what we learned of his death.
