Need help translating a name
I have a copy of my 4th-great grandfather’s signature (fuzzy) from an 18th century deed I found on Family Search

> film 7546102 > image 180 of 896). The deed was transcribed into a NC deed
book. The deed was in English other than my ancestor’s signature. The signature
was the only sample of his writing on the document and the only sample I’ve
found to date. His name became anglicized to John Shires. I’d like to know the
spelling of his German name. I’ve attached 3 scans of his signature on which various PhotoShop tools have been used in an attempt to sharpen the signature.

Difficult - with no other written text (same hand) to compare. Just from thinking about common German names I would tend to "Hanß Scheurer" - without warranty 😉.
