Find out more information
I found this on here. There’s not a lot of information on this person. I think it’s my grandmas birth mother. How could i get more information on her? I messaged the person who posted it and haven’t gotten anything back. She has the same name and my mom think it looks like her, but she only saw her once. https://www.familysearch.org/photos/artifacts/111403087

Hi Bailey, Go to Elsa's page on FS and search FamilySearch and Ancestry for records. Here is a start:
Else was a 17 year old unmarried seamstress. Else sailed from Hamburg March 8, 1929. She immigrated from Chemnitz. Chemnitz is a city in Saxony, eastern Germany. Its huge Karl Marx Monument commemorates the socialist pioneer for whom the city was once named. Nearby, the reconstructed Red Tower is a remnant of the city's defensive walls. The Gunzenhauser Museum displays modern art and is an example of the New Objectivity style of architecture. Set in a former foundry, the Chemnitz Museum of Industry houses an 1896 steam engine.
Next to to FS Catalogue and type in Chemnitz. FS has lots of records for this town. Good luck, Kent

@Kent Gardiner i think that’s the wrong person. Her mother was Elsa Wolf in the photo that’s how she is tagged as Elsa Wolf but when i click on the name it goes to Else wolf. I was hoping it was her, i just don’t know why it says elsa in the photo then her profile says Else

Bailey74 Names in German documents and documents generally often have different spellings. When a clerk writes a name he/she often misspells the name. Very common. If I remember correctly I think the age of this Elsa lines up with your Elsa. Other documents will either prove this document is your Elsa or not but don't be in a hurry to dismiss it. The weight of proof will eventually give you a true picture. All the best, Kent

@Kent Gardiner she was born in 1912. I found out she lived in biebrich. Had my grandma in 1932 in Weisbaden. So is Chemnitz near there? The more i find out the more i realize i have so much to learn. Thank you.

Bailey74Type the names of places into https://www.meyersgaz.org/ It gives lots of information on communities including maps, and what churches were in the area in the 1900's and 1800s. You will find it is the best resource for German towns and cities. The Gazetteer will tell you every derivation of the name found in Germany. Those include towns, farms cities etc.

The passenger manifest shows an immigration visa number in column 12. This would have been issued by the US. Perhaps writing to USCIS and asking for a copy of the visa application would provide more information.
