Help Deciphering and Understanding Occupations

Hi,

I've been trying to get into my ancestors' daily lives. Can you help decipher these occupations and perhaps lend some insight into what they did?

I understand burger and bauer. It's the rest of the occupations that I have a hard time reading the script then understanding what it is. I'm using two websites to help, https://www.jewishgen.org/infofiles/germanoccs.htm and https://sites.rootsweb.com/~romban/misc/germanjobs.html then to wikipedia to better understand the occupation. But, wiki tends to talk about Medievel and these people are just after that period (about 1500).

There have been misinterpretations such as söldner is not a mercenary (Google's translation) but the term Söldner or Seldner referred to a small farmer in our area (Weinsberg) and has nothing to do with the soldier's profession.

And, is the bride's father's occupation described, too? Is his name is Erhard Gerwichs? If so, what is it? Is see something und the same word, Sch... allsi...???

(2) Marriage Proclamation (or is it the marriage itself?) for Johann Friderick Jung (LZNW-6YS) and Maria Catharina daughter of Seiler.

Please, what are the fathers' occupations? I see the bride-to-be's father was a bürgermeister translated as a mayor. What follows bürgermeister?

(1) In the marriage record, the groom's father is a "Bürger" and "Schneider" at "OberEÿßesheim" = a citizen and a tailor at Obereisesheim.

The bride's father is Ehrhard Gerwich (the "s" on the end is for the possessive grammatical case). Erhard is a "Gerichtsverwandter" and "Schmied" = a lay member of the court (or juryman) and a smith.

(2) The groom's father is a "Bürger" and "Rathsverwandter" = a citizen and a member of the town council.

The bride's father is "Bürgermeister" and "Rathsverwandter" = mayor and a member of the town council.

Be aware that Google Translate and other online translation sites are designed for the modern reader (not the family historian), are based on modern German vocabulary and grammar, and will not be able to handle archaic words or words whose meanings have changed over time. Always use these online translation sites with caution.

FYI: My hard-copy Harper-Collins unabridged German-English Dictionary (5th edition published in 2004) also translates "Söldner" as "mercenary".

1. Johann Anger is a Burger and Schneider (tailor) of village by name of something like Oberfossheim. Brides fathers name is very hard to read, It certainly could be Erhard Gerwichs, Gerichts verwandtene? u Schmieds allhier (court member? and smith here)
2. After burgermeister is Ratsverwandter (member of town council). Grooms father: the deceased Johann Friderich Jung burger and Ratsverwandter?.

After more consideration I think the village name is OberEÿssesheim (now found as Obereisesheim).
