I can't access the page via the link; it is probably accessible only for church members or at the FHC. I do see the image Kent uploaded.
Carol, as far as I can see your reading is correct. There are several places called "Laer" in Meyers, however, looking at the other places on this page (Diebrok, Eicum, Elverdissen, Herringhausen) which are all close to (west of) Herford, Westfalia, I believe "Laer" means Laar in Meyers (https://www.meyersgaz.org/place/20001044). Both names are pronounced identically, the spelling might have changed over time.
I cannot comment on the "Schildmann" name. It may be a "Hofname" but I am not sure.

Thank you for trying Ulrich and Kent;
Laar gets me closer to the correct place; there are so many.
I appreciate both your insights.
Gratefully,
Carol

Carol, I can't make out the heading of the last column; it looks like it starts with an "N" and ends with "-hung" or "-fung", but I am unable to find any word that fits.
My guess is that the entries in this column are the marriage dates of the parents. Note that for No. 77 the entry is "copuliert vom Feldprediger in Bielefeld" and for No. 75 "copuliert nicht alhier". For the other entries the date is preceded by "Slop. Rgstr." which seems to refer to a register (don't know what "Slop" means).

Carol. I used to think witnesses were not important. Now I have all witnesses translated. I also look for witnesses to people I don't even know because the witness section has so much great information. The reason is that witnesses were the best friends of ancestors and they often come up in multiple births. I have had instances where they have proven the births of children to parents. Here is an example:
Is there proof of Joss and Barbara having children?
Proof : In 1658 Barbara Scholl and her son Hans Matthias Scholl are mentioned as baptismal sponsors to Hans Adam Heil born 22 Sep 1658. Adam's parents are Hans Conrad Heil and his wife Jacobe Cammerer. Hans Matthias Scholl is 22 years old at the date of this document. He will marry about 1662 or four years hence.
Also, I know it is a lot of work, but you could walk through years of records looking for the Schildmann name. It is tedious but I wanted the information so much that I did just that. I have had great results. You might also find out who was best friends with the Schilmann family! Kent

Thank you for trying Ulrich and Kent;
I will repost the last few links. Kent your page shows half of the birth record # 80, the other half is on the right of the same page.
The question is the same as posted above; I will try this link again; thank you:

Ulrich and Kent;
This is the marriage of Jobst Henrich Schildmann; I hope it displays well. Jobst is the person in question from the previous question. Their marriage is the last one on this page. He is recorded as Jobst Henrich Schildmann. However, his father is referred to as "Hermann Henrich Schildmann born Breder"; his mother is Anne Catharine Ilsabe Schildmann. This is why I am thinking "Schildmann" is a "Hofname"? Hermann's father is showing as "Jobst Henrich Breder"; Anne's father is showing as "Johann Henrich Schildmann" - I need to check orginal records first.
I hope this photo can be seen; I wish I could display it as you did Kent.

Thank you for this record Kent; it is a very clear record of this birth; I'm sorry I don't see the connection to the Schildmann family - except for one of the witnesses. Thank you for sending this,

Kent thank you for the Scholl example and your strong endorsement of witnesses! Yes, I have started working through the birth records for the Schildmann family, I finished 7 years yesterday and did take note of the witnesses. So good someone else takes this route also!

Carol, Here is one more example regarding sponsors and why they are important from my website: https://www.gatheringgardiners.com/2020/04/hans-peter-scholl-1637-at-least-1669.html
