Help with determining birth record for Maria Elisabeth Hammer
Hi,
I have found the death record for Maria Elisabeth geb Hammer Schulze in Steinhofel, Brandenberg. She was 36 years/1 month/28 days when she died on 23 Feb 1825. Her calculated birth date would be 26 Dec 1788.
I think I found her birth record (first record on left) in Steinhofel, Brandenberg on archion. I need help determining if the attached birth record is for Maria Elisaberth Hammer born around 26 Dec 1788. And if so, what are her parents names?

Thank you for your time.

Hello Myke,
Here is what I read:
The child is named Maria Elisabet, born on 25 Dec 1788, and baptized on 8 January 1789.
Her father is Johann Hamer, farmer.
Her mother is Luise? Kasten?/Kaster? [If you have thoughts on who the mother should be, please let me know.]
The child has 15 baptismal sponsors -- certainly the most I have seen in my 20 years of German genealogical research.

Hi Robert,
Thank you for the translation.
I am going to look for more births of this couple, even if the records are not that easy to read. Can't complain too much seeing the records are from 1780's. 😀
Yes, I agree, that is a lot of sponsors.

Hi Myke,
Do you think this is the correct child you were looking for? What were you expecting the mother's name to be?

This is a new record for me in my research. There was no expectations about the parents on my end. I do have some clues about other Hammer's living in Steinhofel that my be siblings of Maria Elisabeth Hammer. So more research to be done. Good thing the village wasn't that large.
Attached is the marriage for Maria Elisabeth Hammer and Johann David Schultze. First marriage on the right in 1814.
Ulrich Neitzel translated the following:
[__] May; Bachelor and yarn weaver Johann David [Schultz], second legitimate son of the master yarn weaver [__] David Schultz [residing] in Ringenwalde (31 years) with [__] Elisabeth Hammer, oldest legitimate daughter [of the local?] shoe maker [__ Hammer] (30 years).
Do you see any other clues in this marriage? Marie Elisabeth Hammer's age is off a bit from her death record.

Hello Myke,
I can only add the bride's first name (in bold) to Ulrich's translation:
[__] May; Bachelor and yarn weaver Johann David [Schultz], second legitimate son of the master yarn weaver [__] David Schultz [residing] in Ringenwalde (31 years) with Maria Elisabeth Hammer, oldest legitimate daughter [of the local?] shoe maker [__ Hammer] (30 years).
I don't see any additional clues in this record.
Comment: How odd that the bride's father isn't specifically named in the record?
