Belli and Zanichelli Family
I am trying to find information on my great grandparents Pietro Belli (4/13/1881 Venato, Italy) and Erminia Zanichelli (8/15/1885 Marche, Italy.) I am trying to find their ancestors and keep hitting a road block on any information before they came to America. I know Erminia had two sisters (Eda and Eulalia) and two brothers (Emedio and Antonio). Several had children that lived in Rome in 1965. If you have any information, I would love to hear from you.

Dear @CathyGadbery2 ,
Concerning Zanichelli's family in Ascoli Piceno here you can find Census of the city of Ascoli Piceno and its outskirts ca.1861-ca.1930
You can start using this index to search about Zanichelli's family and then use the other documents to see the details
Also this registers are only accessible in a FamilySearch Center so you would have to go there :)
I didn't find any other info, so I wish you having a good search!
I hope this can help.
Massimo

I will only add that records for Valdagno are also available on the Antenati website without restriction (i.e., no need to go to an FHC or FamilySearch Affiliate Library).
Same for the Ascoli Piceno records referenced - available on Antenati.

Dear @CathyGadbery2 ,
From a fast search I've found the following information. Are they correct in your side? Are we talking about your Pietro Belli and Erminia?
Thank you!
Massimo
From this catalog: "West Virginia Naturalization Records, 1814-1991," database with images, FamilySearch (https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:VRXN-F6C : accessed 10 March 2022), Pietro Belli, 1946; citing Hancock, West Virginia, United States, Naturalization Records, 1940-1947, West Virginia State Archives, Charleston; FHL microfilm 1,940,274.
you can see this => https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:9392-HBNX-6?i=413&cc=1909003&personaUrl=%2Fark%3A%2F61903%2F1%3A1%3AVRXN-F6C
Below I reported the main information found into the afore-mentioned document:
Pietro Belli born in Valdagno Italy on 13 April 1881
Erminia in Ascoli Piceno Italy on 15 August 1885
They were married in Jenkins Kentucky 13 June 1914 having two children Dino (born 1 April 1915) and Alba (born 9 November 1916)

Thank you so much @Massimo C. . All the above information is correct. I just seem to have a hard time finding information about my Italian and Polish relatives. I have been looking for more information for almost 2 years now. Thank you.

Dear @CathyGadbery2 ,
Here there are Civil Registration acts for Valdagno from 1806 to 1908
In particular below there is the register for 1881's births.
Registers are only accessible in a FamilySearch Center so you would have to go there :)
Once you have the names of Pietro's father and mother and perhaps other information you can search into the other catalogues
I hope this can help

@CathyGadbery2 You mentioned: "I have a hard time finding information about my Italian and Polish relatives." If you could be more specific....there may be more specific answers we could give.
Are you hoping to find information about your Italian and Polish ancestors in US records or only in foreign records?
If only foreign...what records are you hoping to find? Civil Registration...which one are you looking for first..a birth, a marriage, or a death? Church? Other?

I would suggest also for a Virtual Genealogy Consultations. You can sign up for a free, 20-minute online research strategy consultation. They can aim to empower you by identifying good next steps to take in your research journey also for Italian Polish ancestors

@karenrasmussen I have been looking for foreign information. My great grandparents were married here in the US, but were born in Italy. Unfortunately, every time I do a search, nothing comes up for either of them. I would love to be able to trace our family back more than just my great grandparents. I have looked at the suggestions Massimo gave me and have not found any new information. I still need to look at what Cousin Vinny sent me. I have the names of my great grandmother's siblings and their children, but even with that information, I cannot find information on any of the them. It is like they just suddenly appeared. The search continues though.

Because Italian records (and a lot of records held by FamilySearch in general) are mostly not computer indexed, you often have to browse through record books by hand to search. For example, on Antenati there is a 10-year birth index for 1871-1881 for Valdagno, but it's only for Novare (a hamlet of Valdagno). I looked through all the B entries and there is not a single Belli listed - the closest thing is a Pietro Bevilacqua born in 1874 and another born in 1879. So that's no good.
Looking at the Antenati records it may be that they don't have the same amount of Valdagno records as FamilySearch, so a trip to a FHC or FamilySearch Affiliate Library may be necessary.
Now, you notice on Pietro's naturalization petition that they don't know the name of the ship he came in on. That means the Department of Labor couldn't find his arrival record, so something is probably off about the information he gave - maybe the date, maybe the port of embarkation, maybe the arrival, maybe the name he traveled under.
I used the Steve Morse Ellis Island search engine to find anybody with the initials P.B. who arrived in New York from Antwerp from 1904 and 1910, born between 1878 and 1884. This is what I got. That Pietro Bellissimo looks close name-wise, but Nicastro is down in Calabria.
I expanded the search to any P. Belli* arriving from any port and got several Pietro Belli listings.
The first Pietro Belli arriving May 1 1907 is interesting. On the manifest it says he was previously in the US and was born in San Pietro di Cadore. https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:JXN7-2NY But none of these really seem to match up with your guy. So more research is needed.

@Cousin Vinny - You have done so much searching and I thank you. I am interested in the 1st Pietro who arrived on May 1st as May 2nd was the date listed on Pietro's Naturalization Records. Hopefully I can find something more. Obviously, I have to really think about all the places where I could reference information.
It's funny, but I have my great grandmother Erminia's family (the names of her brothers and sister and some of their children) but can't find any information about her either in the Antenati records.
Again, I really appreciate what you have found.
