What happened to orphans in early to mid 1700s in Baden?
I just discovered that my 5th great-grandparents died after having 6 children. She died in childbirth (her burial date is the same as the baptism date for their youngest son) and he died about 17 months later.
Is there a way to track what became of the children?
I have baptism dates for all six children and marriage dates for their oldest child (my 4th great-grandmother) and for one of their sons -- from the abstracts on line. I will be making a trip to the FHL later this month and will try to get actual images then.
Thanks for your help.

Government in Germany was highly decentralized until 1871. Even within a state different towns would have had different approaches to dealing with orphans. I suggest looking at the FamilySearch Catalog, and if there are no records there contacting a local genealogical society or archive.
