Quick Question on technique in translations

Hi:

When I translate a German record, I do both the German & English translations. Curious do I need to do that or is just the English fine?

I do always a transcription of the German text first. I would also propose to keep it, so you and others can later see on which text your English translation is based. I have encountered "translation errors" that were actually "transcription errors" because it is often difficult to decipher old handwriting.
