On the 18th of January [1778], in the morning at 6:00 am born and on the 19th of the same month baptized: Martin.
[Written below the birth and baptismal dates in the left column]: Note: from fornication [i.e., this child was illegitmate at the time of his birth and was later legitimized when his parents married a year later].
Father: young Martin Wenz, the local master mason, legitimate son of old Martin Wenz, the local citizen and master mason.
Mother: Maria Sidonia, née Bicklin.
Baptismal witnesses: (1) Gabriel Bickel, the local citizen and master blacksmith, and (2) his wife Margaretha, née Münchin. (3) Friderich Herbster, surviving legitimate unmarried son of the late Georg David Herbster, former citizen here. (4) Margaretha Schollin, surviving legitimate unmarried daughter of the late Georg Scholl, former citizen here.

Robert, Yes Georg Scholl is gone by 1778 and Margaretha will marry in another 2 years. It all fits. Thanks for the extra research on the couple. I see the Wenz family popping up quite a bit in Graben. Beautiful translation!!!! KG
