Help reading a record

This record clearly has the father's name indexed wrong, unless I am looking at the wrong thing on the record: https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:683C-89RW It is one that I can edit, but I would like to know what to edit it to. I am not good with Norwegian names and every record I have for him seems to be indexed differently. He is Tjøstel Kristoffersen Rud LH3L-Z5M, at least that is how he is showing in the tree at the moment. I am not sure of all the records attached to him. Are they all different spelling variants of the same name or are some of them a different person?

The new Norway Church Books record set is wonderful and I'm seeing all sorts of new hints coming from it. This major project by Ancestry, FamilySearch and My Heritage produced nearly 18,000,000 records in just four years.

However, whatever process the three of them used to create that many records in such a short time really impacted the quality of the index. I have seen many transcriptions that are so off base you can't help but laugh. The counsel to always check original records has never been more true than with this index. Not all of these records seems to have images attached or viewable at this point, but the information in the index make it extremely simple to find the original image on the Digitalarkivet site.

But to your question. The index claims the name is Kristian Lars Andreasen Rude, looking at the original image, that is a really bad transcription from the Klokkerbok https://www.digitalarkivet.no/kb20061009030200 of:

and both are clearly Kjølstad Christophersen Rude.

This is consistent with all the other spelling variants you have for him. I've seen the T/K substitution before. There was just no standard way to spell names at this point in history. This is also a good example that farm names were considered by people to be their surname at many times and in many areas of Norway and are a important part of correctly identifying people and should be included as part of their name in the Vitals section of Family Tree.

Regarding whether all the sources of Kjølstad are for him or not, you cannot go by spelling of names. You need to evaluate the sources based on consistency of information contained in them in regards to location, family relationships, dates fitting a time line, and other family members on the records.

I wasn't terribly concerned about the T or K, or the ö, ø, or o. I hadn't seen the stad ending of the name before; it had always been stel or something similar. The d on the end would seem to give a different pronunciation, but perhaps it doesn't.
