Hello Kent,
Translation:
On the 26th of [ _____ 1705] Martin Scholl, council member and widower here, with Anna Sabina Wentzin, legitimate daughter of Jost Wentzen, council member here, [were married].
Question: No month appears in the record. What is your thinking on making the date 26 February 1705?
Comment: Note spelling of "Sabina" (no "r") in the record.

But without a month recorded in the record itself and with the record before being in the month of February and the record after being in the month of June, the marriage in your record could have taken place on 26 Feb, 26 Mar, 26 Apr, or 26 May.
Note in the marriage records for the year 1706 on this same page that the scribe repeated the month of April for each record.
So in your 1705 marriage record, did the scribe forget to write the month or did he mean that it also took place in February?

Hi Kent,
I pointed this out to show that it is important to analyze this record in the context of the other records on the page or elsewhere in the parish register. I, too, don't know if the scribe didn't write the month because he assumed it was the same as the record before or simply forgot it. Your approach to handling this is a good way to address situations like this.

Yes, that is the month I thought it was. February is good.

Not sure, I was just going on the previous entry being in February and figured that this entry would follow and be the same month. But you area right, it could have been a later month. I will put your reasoning in the entry and maybe there will be other documents to verify the February date that are found later.

An example of what you are talking about is death records. I have seen 3 pages of deaths from dysentery in Graben. Very sad to see.
