Good morning Kent,
Thanks for the information you provided about the children of Anna Margaretha Weidmann and Johann Martin Scholl.
Clarification: You said that Anna Margaretha Weidmann died 3.5 months after the unnamed child was born and died on 16 March 1703. But Anna Margaretha died on 30 June 1704, so she died 1 year and 3.5 months after this child.
The reason I asked about this couple's children is because her death record indicates that she actually had 5 children during this marriage which lasted 7 years, 7 months, and 20 days. it appears she died in childbirth giving birth to her fifth child.
Translation:
On the 30th of June [1704] Anna Margaretha Weidmann, Martin Scholl's wife, died in childbirth, age 28 years, 8 months. 7 years, 8 months _____ 4 children: 2 alive, 2 dead, and the 5th died. 1 little son is still alive.
Analysis:
As written in the record the mother died from "Kinds nöthe[n] = Kindsnöten = labor pains. I have interpreted this as "childbirth" in my translation. And because she previously had given birth to four children, 2 alive and 2 dead, the phrase "den 5ten gestorben" (= the fifth died), it would seem that she died in childbirth giving birth to her fifth child, who also died.
If you enlarge the record, the phrase at the end of the second line, which at first glance appears to be "7 Jahr 1 Monat", looks to be "7 Jahr 8 Monat" (albeit a very thin "8") which might be referencing the length of the marriage of this couple which was 7 years, 7 months, and 20 days = 7 years, 8 months.

Hi Kent,
Question: In FamilySearch Family Tree Johann Martin Scholl (2858-5MX) and Anna Margaretha Weidmann (L4HK-SHL) are shown with three children born in 1698, 1701, and 1703. Have you found any additional children for this couple and if so when were they born?
It appears from her death record that Anna Margaretha died in child birth in June 1704, so that would be child no. 4. Any chance there is a child born in 1697 or between the other 3 children?
Thank you, Robert

Johann Martin Scholl was born 8 Mar 1668 to Hans Matthias Scholl and Eva Meinzer. Martin married Anna Margaretha Weidmann 10 November 1696 in Graben. They had three children. Margaretha Weidmann died 30 June 1704 or 3.5 months after the birth of her 3rd child.
Martin then married Anna Sabina Wentz in 1704. Martin died 18 Aug 1723. Martin lived to be 55 according to his death record.
What happened to their children:

- Scholl infant 1703-1703 born and died 16 March

Excellent work. I love the analysis. Wow, 5 children. FS only has three. I will need to do some more work.

Mr. G: Since it appears that two of the children were either born dead or died very soon after birth, be sure to search both birth/baptismal records and death/burials records for the period November 1696 to June 1704.

Excellent idea. I also contacted someone on Ancestry that seems to know a lot about the Weidmann family. However they probably haven't had her death record translated and don't know about the other two children.

I found the 3 children's docs on FS but couldn't find the two missing children. I asked to have them translated.
