Fuzzy Gazetteer
Here is what you can do when you have a document wherein you can read only some (but not all) of the letters of the place where your ancestor was living. Perhaps the handwriting is blurry or unusual. Perhaps part of the name of the location is torn off or have a worm hole in it.
By going to the Fuzzy Gazetteer, you can use wild cards , such as *, to narrow down the possibilities.
