I have had difficulty lately finding online access to The FUZZY GAZETTEER but here is a link which still works:

I use this tool when I am reading an old handwritten document and cannot decipher some of the letters in the name of a locality: town/village/ farm. By using the wild cards * it helps to narrow down the possibilites. The Fuzzy Gazetteer can be useful also with the name of the locality in question is so common that there is more than just one possibility because it will provide the geographical coordinates of each known possibiity.

When I first saw it, i thought, o what a great tool. But when I am trying ,I get ZERO results. The worst problem however is: When I try to ask anybody for such a place, I only get the answer to such a tool that does not work for me.
