Thank you. Interesting how the records differ slightly. Glad I found the other one since it gave me the farm connection I needed.

Stine Nielsdatter was from Øreger a small place in Aker (Vestre Aker parish) in Akershus, Norway. Hans Nielsen was from the farm Sollerud.
Here is a record of their engagement: https://media.digitalarkivet.no/view/7713/25
Often the name of the parents of the groom and bride are listed in the marriage records from 1814 and later, but that is not the case here. However, I did find an entry in the 1865 census for Aker, Akershus, Norway where a Stine born around 1799 to 1800. Here she is married to Gudmund Hanssen. Could her first husband have died? She does have a son by the name Andreas Hansen (he would be the son of her and a man by the name Hans). They live at the farm or place Ørakerbraaten. Øraker and Ørager is the same place and the added braaten is like saying the Ørager or Øraker field.
See link form 1865 census for Aker: https://www.digitalarkivet.no/census/person/pf01038011002038
The farm Sollerud is also located in Aker (Vestre Aker) parish.
You may want to search for the confimation records for Stine as well as for Hans, search for their children and then the death records for Hans as well as if there is a 2nd marriage for Stine.

Hi, yes I have that census info., thank you. But not the engagement, although I can't tell which record it is! I wish it listed her parents!
She is married a second time, to Gudmund Hansen. No parents listed there, either. Her first husband died. I have the records of her and her children by him.
I have found a birth/baptism for what I am pretty sure is her is Asker in 1800. I have found her family in the 1801 census, too. Her siblings appears on other children's birth records. In the 1865 census she lists her birth parish as Bærum, which I know broke off from Asker. I only found one Stine born between 1800-1801 in that area (Aker and Asker), I found a Kristine, but I don't think it is her. I can't seem to trace her down to eliminate her, though. That one's father was from Gromland? in Oslo. I just wish I could find a definite link between Stine and her parents. I never made the connection between the farm she came from and lived on later.
One of her daughters is named Dorothea and her mother was Dorte. Another indirect link.

Check the confirmation information for her and her 1st husband. It usually liste the conplete date of birth. It should also list the name of her/his father.

I don't know what you are referring to. I have their marriage records for both husbands, it only lists their ages, no parents.

I have her confirmation, it gives the date I have from the birth record, but I don't know if it it the right person. If that is what you mean.

Most likely that is the correct person. Usually when this happens, you will have to follow her through other records, moving (or if she did not move) as well as her death. If there are two persons by the same name you will have to follow both and then see which one is the correct person.

Thank you!
One last question, if I see her a Stine throughout all the records, is it likely the Kristine is not her? Would she have used that name varient?

The 1865 census says she was born in Bærum. Aker was part of Bærum at the time of her birth.

Stine - Kristine - Christine are all the same name. However, in this case she seem to have used Stine in all the records.

Hi again,
I spent two days trying to track the Kristine born in Aker. I could not find her family in the 1801 Census even on the known dark, although I looked page by page and didn't find them I couldn't find a death record for her or her father, I found other women by the mother's name, but there was no way of telling it was her. I spun my wheels a bit trying to trace what I thought was her family, but then realized the father had several children with the wife listed in Kristine's birth record. Weird thing is the his name is the same for my Stine.
In the Census records where the child was born in 1800, they were listed in the Census. And I used all different versions of it to look and search.
So I am am pretty confident that the Stine I found born in Asher is mine. I think she was living on the farm she listed as her birth farm when she married the first time. The second record you led me to, lists her as widow. So that connects her with my Stine marrying Gudmund Hansen.
Again, thanks for your help,
Connie
