Liste di Leva Answered
When looking for someone's military registration, do you use the Liste di Leva for that person's birth year or the year he turned 18 yrs. old? I'm looking for my grandfather in the Messina records. There seem to be multiple birth years recorded regardless the the date of the Liste di Leva. Thank you for your help.

They're definitely supposed to be organized by birth year, but that's not to say all comunes and all provinces did it this way. You're definitely wise to search a few years before and after the presumed birth year to be safe!
