How would a adopted child from China find her tree.
My Niece was adopted when she was 3 yrs old by an American Family. She is now 18 yrs old and going to University, She has had a loving family, She is intelligent, competitive, talented, and a loving caring Person. I have done my American family tree. I feel bad because my niece does not know her Chinese Family.
Can someone give me some suggestions on what steps can be taken to try to find her heritage.
We know her age, approximate day born, The Orphanage she was left at as a newborn. She had been born with a cleft Palate, The region of China where her biological parents probably are from.

I would start with the orphanage. See if they have any records of her name or where she was born.

She has the name of the Orphanage, and the Province where it is located. My Niece was left in a basket out side of the orphanage, circumstances unknown.

Was there any paper or writting left with her in the basket? It might be worth it to check with the orphanage to see if there was any item or paper that came with her
