Townlands in Ireland
It would be nice to have the townlands in Ireland in Family Search’s database. When I put the townland in the system as a place of birth, marriage or death it does not recognize any of them in County Tipperary. I tried to enter one as a new place but I couldn't get it to work.

I'm guessing it would be messy process, because ones that were included in the U.S. National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency's database are already in the system. (I checked one of my ancestor's townlands in County Sligo, and it was there). Fortunately, Ireland has an open data layer available with these if someone were interested in tackling it:

We have a group working on adding the townlands to our Ireland database. Please be patient - they're working as fast as they can.
