Chamberlain - Chamberland family
Im looking for any information anyone would have on the chamberlain family. alot of them lived in Gloucester, New Brunswick, Canada.
Abraham Chamberlain and Sophie Vienneau were my great great grandparents living there at the time the tree does go further some notes on here are either duplicates n such. my question i have is if there was any metis in the family since during those times alot would marry them have kids.
Aimable (Peter) Chamberlain could just be known as peter .born 1822 married rose marie doucet in 1849. she was born 1820. those are abrahams parents
Now Peters father would also be known as abraham chamberlain born 1797 married a women named Mary Lavigne. this has been a ride on here to find the correct information as seeing alot of contributed to the chamberlain family line. at one point it was chamberland then switched to just chamberlain.

There was no real population of Metis in New Brunswick, they were primarily in the Western provinces and what used to be the Northwest Territories. The Metis were created when French and Scottish fur traders married natives along their regular routes, and there wasn't any fur trade to speak of in the Atlantic Provinces.
The Provincial Archives of New Brunswick have excellent county research guides, including for Gloucester, which you can find here:
These guides detail even the smallest collections from the locality which will help you in research so early.

Per MyHeritage, Abraham Chamberlain (born August 15, 1860 in Gloucester, New Brunswick, Canada) was married twice, both to Sophie Vienneau (1869-1922) on April 7, 1891, and Sara Jane Roy, whom he married in January 1929. All of Abraham's children were born significantly before Sophie's death in 1922, so it's a fair bet that she was their mother. (* = married)
