Is it possible to find info on a mechanic who worked Monte Carlo 1955?
I have several pictures of mechanic Augusto Ferrari (born 1914 in Torino) at this race. One newspaper clipping says: "The tuning tests of the new Laneia F are intensifying, which also yesterday drove Alberto Ascari for a long time in Monza. In the photo: the world champion on the racetrack, while he starts under the watchful eye of the mechanics and managers of the Turin-based company. It seems like the debut of the" in Google translate. I do know that there was an Officine Meccaniche Plinio Ferrari in Verona where Augusto (or perhaps his father Publio?) worked as a mechanic.
No searches in the Monte Carlo database show connections to Augusto. I do know that this is a longshot, but thought I'd ask.
Thank you

There are several Augusto Ferraris in data bases for Ancestry and Family Search. Unfortunately none of the records list occupation. Some Ferraris are found on lists of people persecuted by the Nazis during WWII and several Ferrari families from Italy and France immigrated to South America During those years. I cannot find a record listing Augusto as a son of Publio.
I did find an Auguste Ferrari born 8 June 1914 in Granze, which is near Verona where Officine Meccaniche Plinio Ferrari was located. Could that be him?
Alberto Ascari was killed while testing a race car in Monza in 1955, but I could not find any records about his mechanics.

Hello again,
I never had Augusto's month and date of birth until just now. Thank you so much for that. I also didn't know he was born in Granze, thank you for that too. Where did you find this information please? I'd love to learn more about Augusto's siblings Eupilio (born 1908), Stella (born 1909) and Ceasar (born 1911) too, even if it is month and date of birth and/or exact place of birth. I'd like to know about their children too. I have a few of their children's names (like Augusto had Dario, Carlos, Giancarlo, and Suilio while Stella had Michelle, Jean Pierre, and Bernard) but that's all I know.
As for the Ferrari's persecuted by the Nazi's, I am very interested in learning about this list. Where can I find it please? And how did you learn that some Ferrari families emigrated to South America? You are a font of information and I appreciate you very much!
I do know about the tragic Ascari crash, but thank you for sharing that too...Is there a way to find out what the Plinio Ferrari auto shop is now? I did Google it just to check, and there are many mechanics in the Verona area, so I need more info... I have a photocopy of the ad from the phone book (or perhaps an enlargement from the business card?) that reads Via Adigetto 12. Will that help?
Thank you again!

Please be aware he is the only Augusto I could find in records that are indexed. If you think he was born in Tourin the person I found may not be the man you are searching for.
In my search I encountered multiple Auguste or Augusto Ferraris born 1912 and 1913 in various parts of Italy, so this must have been a popular name at the time.
