How to find records of the Legion d'honneur decore de la CroiX de Guerre for WWII?
Hello everyone,
How can I find anything related to Italian born Cesare Ferarri, recruited into the French Foreign Legion on July 12, 1935 and matriculate July 17, 1940, records? I know he was in the 4th Regiment Etranger O'Infanterie La Major and was in prison in Marrakesh.
Any advice will be appreciated, thank you!

This link may prove helpful.
However it states that military records are kept confidential for 120 years after the soldier's known birth date, so you may need to find information from other sources.
I know from previous searches that the French Foreign Legion did not keep the best records and they do not readily share what they have.
If Marrakesh had any prison records, you might try that route.

This link has British military records but the description says that Britain kept track of several Foreign Legions, so you might find your relative here.

Hello,
Thank you very much for your tips, and especially for the heads up about the rule for keeping records confidential for 120 years. Just knowing that will help me not get too too frustrated as I look in to this.
Thank you again!
