Society of Florida Archivists 2021 Virtual Annual Meeting
This week the SFA held their annual meeting online.
Of interest to archivists will be these two sessions:
On Wednesday, May 5, 2021 "Small Collections and Records of Enslavement and Sharecropping in FSU Special Collections & Archives" was very informative. Check out the FSU Digital Library!
On Thursday, May 6, 2021 "Oral History Access or What to Do With All These Interviews". In this session Georgen Charnes of Boynton Beach City Library Local History & Archives reminded us all of these five things:
"Oral history 1. Captures social & contextual history, 2. Creates emotional resonance, 3. Builds ties with the community, 4. Inspires Individuals to help capture history, and 5. Documents communities without documents".
All good things to remember while we are striving to correctly bring our ancestors' lives to life.
