Bungay, Suffolk, England
Hello!
Maybe someone here can help me. I am looking for the parents of Sarah Kingsbury, born abt 1741 in Bungay, Suffolk, England. Married Thomas Miller (1731-1804, widower) on 28 May 1764 in Bungay. Sarah died abt 1773, Bungay.
They had had 5 children, but only 3 survived. Oldest daughter, my 4x's gr grandmother, Anne Brettenham Miller MacLean 1765-1824, Sarah 1768-1768, William Richard Beckford Miller 1769-1844, Elizabeth Miller Stone 1770-1855, and Sarah Miller 1772-1774. All of this has been confirmed by documents and Wills, etc.
According Wikipedia (Thomas Miller), her father was William Kingsbury, a malster. But I can't find any records to prove it. I've checked everywhere, Ancestry, Familysearch, findmypast, etc.
Also related is
Matthew Brettingham Kingsbury, 1766-1837, Norwich, Norfolk, Eng. I know they are related because he's mentioned in several Wills. Matthew's parents are Elizabeth Brettingham Kingsbury and William Kingsbury. This William Kingsbury is a different one from above. William and Elizabeth were married 3 Feb 1765, Norfolk, Eng.
In his Will, Matthew mentions the children of his "late cousin, Anne MacLean" Including my 3x's gr grandfather Thomas McLean.
So I know they are all connected but can't find the connection or doc. to back it up.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thank you,
PChaplin

Hello Patricia,
There is a Sarah Miller burial in Bungay in 1774 found on the National Burial Index on Findmypast at this URL: https://www.findmypast.co.uk/transcript?id=BMD%2FNBI%2F13145999 (date is 20 May 1774 and place is St Mary's, Bungay).
I found this quickly using my website, https://ogindex.org/
It appears there were at least five Kingsbury families in Bungay in the 1720s to 40s. John and Mary, Thomas and Elizabeth, John and Finite, William and Elizabeth, and William and Sarah. Findmypast shows John and Finite's children only.
FamilySearch has a film of Bishop's Transcript Baptisms for Bungay Holy Trinity that includes many Kingsbury parents.
Here are the children of William and Sarah:
Mary christened on 3rd Feb 1739 and William christened 23rd July 1740.
AND your Sarah! Born on 27 Nov 1741 and christened 23rd July 1742.
Here is a link to the page: https://www.familysearch.org/records/images/image-details?page=1&place=10592066&rmsId=TH-909-61459-28469-86&imageIndex=204&singleView=true
See entry 2348.
If you go to FamilySearch, click on Search, Images and enter Bungay, Suffolk, England and choose the pre-1801 image set, you will find the entire film. (you want image 205 of 680)
Hope that helps you further the research of this family.

Tim Manners,
Thank you for all your help. I was able to find the info on findmypast. Unfortunately all the links you gave me don't work. A lady sent me the transcribed records for some of the churches in the area, and I was able to find several of the families that I am researching.
It's unfortunate that Bungay cannot be researched on familysearch or ancestry, etc.
Again, thank you very much,
Best wishes,
Patti
