Research in Rome
Does anyone have any experience researching in Rome? I know that most towns have one "comune" (town hall) where records are held. I have a great great aunt who I believe died in Rome in 1975, but I didn't if there is one or there are many offices to contact regarding her death record and location of burial. Suggestions?

Did your great, great aunt die in 1875 or 1975? If it was 1975, those records will most likely not be available online as it is too recent (online civil records for Roma only go from 1863-1930).
Regardless of which century, you will also need to know what comune (town or village) within Roma she was from, or lived in when she died. There is a list in the catalog on FamilySearch of the comunes within Roma. Do a place search for Italy, Roma. Then click on "Places within Italy, Roma" to see the list.
If it was 1975, and you are a descendant, you will need to write directly to the local civil registry. It is always best to do this in Italian; there are helps for this in the FamilySearch Wiki: "Italy Genealogy". When the page opens up, over on the right in the third box down ("Italy Background") is a section called "Letter writing Guide". You will need to pay for the record, but do not send money initially until they let you know the amount.
