Women in Preservation Symposium
As I attend the Women in Preservation Symposium today I realize how the intersecting disciplines of the panelists impact family history.
Each of these women come from different disciplines: landscaping, urban planning, museums, and historic houses, etc.
The one thing that they have in common is the people that inhabited those spaces -- our ancestors!
The "Power of Passion" roundtable was inspiring (what I saw of it - I had to pop in and out as I posted about Archives Awareness Week 2021). But the question asked at the end really resonated with me: How do we show our passion for our interest in the "space" that we are working in?
Well, here in Community, we can all share our passion for finding those records that illuminate the lives of our ancestors and we can share with others in the Community what we have learned by being a member of the Community.
The panelists shared a quote by Teddy Roosevelt: "Do what you can, with what you have, where you are." They also mentioned advocacy, patience, and optimism.
We can do that! We can contribute to Community, knowing that it will only get better as it develops.
