As a child, I was told by my late mother that her paternal grandmother had American Indigenous ancestry. I always wished to know if this was true and what nation our ancestry was from.
Since doing ADNA testing with Ancestry, MyHeritage and FTDNA and uploading the DNA to various sites, I have found via Gedmatch that I have DNA matching the Ancients of the Paleo-Eskimo, Greenland; Baringian Indigenous; Clovis Boy of Montana; Kennewick Man of Washington State and two South American Indigenous from Brazil.
Further exploration on Facebook American genealogical groups and distant ADNA and X cousins has led me to look at the the Powhatan nation.
My results on My True Ancestry also point to 1680's Virginia in the geographic location of Powhatan traditional lands.
As my ancestral research has pointed to the Powhatan nation, I believe that Amonute is my ancestress.
I have taken my line to the surname Bunne in England but have hit a brick wall. Any assistance in proving this line to the Powhatan Nation would be appreciated.
I am not asking for assistance to become a member of the Nation, but to prove my ancestral lines.
