How accurate are the dates on Hungarian civil registration records? Do they reflect the actual date
I have an image my great grand parents marriage record (18990 and the date on the record is about 6 weeks beyond the date that was used by the family as their wedding. The last of my questions may explain why I can’t find my grandfather's birth record even though I have the parents marriage record and his younger sister’s record.

First questions, have to examine one by one.
The last, we should see your collected records for any help.

Civil registrations of births and deaths have two dates: the date of the registration and the date of the event. Marriages have only the one date, since the act of registering the marriage *is* the marriage, as far as the civil authorities are concerned. This may or may not be the same as the date of a church wedding (if any).

Julia and Tamas,
I wrote an answer earlier but I am not sure if it went through. It disappeared as I was trying to add the images.
I have two documents my great grand parents marriage and my great aunt’s birth. Both occurred about the same area. I have reviewed the surrounding areas and years (my grandfather was supposedly born in 1900) to no avail. No matter what date used (family or official) my grandfather was born premature which is why I wonder that is birth was not registered.
As for my great grand parents marriage I totally understand about the civil registration being the official date. I will reflect it on my tree for this date and make a note about the family celebration date.
Where are the two documents I have, at some point I may have to try and find the church records.
Thank you, Les Hecht

For church records after 1895 you can register here, not free. I have to say church records not officially after 1895.
https://e-archivum.pecsiegyhazmegye.hu/en/login
Church registration till 1895 was in Szabolcs (Now both Somogy and Szabolcs are part of Pécs)

Births were registered where they occurred rather than at the parent's residence. If his mother went into labor prematurely, they may have taken her to a hospital for his birth. I have been unsuccessful in figuring out where the nearest hospital was to Somogy or the coalmines in general circa 1900, but I would assume it was in Pécs? Of course, that's a huge registration district, and neither FS nor MACSE appear to have indexed it yet.... Do you have a birthdate for him, or just the year?

Julie and Tamas,
Thank you again for all of your information. I can’t say how excited I am to have the marriage record and birth record info. This info as to my GGfather's birth town will be extremely helpful trying to find more information about the family. I believe there are more family members that lived the area where my great parents were married and will check my information again.
As for grandfathers birth we celebrated it Feb 19 and he used 1900. There was some issue about the year and it may be 1901. I will check through the unindexed Pecs records like I did to find the marriage and birth. Perhaps I wasn’t looking in the correct place for my grandfathers records. I will be busy looking at records again.
If possible have one more request. I have my GGfather Schmiedl's death record. I only need a portion explained. The attached portion of the record has the reason/cause of death and I am wondering what that might be. I think I am OK with the rest of the record.
Thank you again,
Les Hecht
