Sereje, Suwalki, Russia modern location
I have an ancestor who's draft card says he was born in Seveje (Sereje?), Suvalki (Suwalki?), Russia. Would this be modern day Seirijai, Alytus, Lithuania? Or is there some other location in Poland or Lithuania that would be more accurate? His surname is Dowgiallo. Thank you so much!

I think you are right. Different versions of this placename in different languages: Seirijai [Lith], Sereje [Pol], Serei [Yid], Sereye [Rus], Seyriyay, Serze, Seirijų, Saray, Serai, Seree, Serey, Serrey, Serehai, Serhai, Serheya, Sarheya.
