Around 30-35 years ago one of my family members was in close contact with a girl called Pembe
Hello, Asia Genealogy Research community.
This girl in question moved from Bulgaria to somewhere in the Anatoli region of Turkey, and her parents were Turkish. (And the area is also called "Minor Asia"). And 30-35 years ago she was just about 18-20 years old. That makes her anywhere between 50-60 years old today. I need to know firstly whether or not she's alive or dead, but the problem is that I don't know her surname. More details about her is that she's around 1.6m tall, had brown hair that went to her shoulders, worked in a sewing shop with my grandma, which was the family member who was in contact with her at that time, and her husband was a very strict man. She married a Turkish man that her parents picked for her (very common tradition) who ownes a (small?) vegetables shop (Grocery Shop), thus making him a bussinessman. She could've possibly lived in rural areas due to the lack of information about similar people living in bigger cities, but both options are still plausible. I am firstly speculating, that she might be dead due to homicide. Why? Her husband didn't even allow to see said one of her closest friends in her native country Bulgaria, because he was a potential candidate for being her husband, but had later given up, because he couldn't move in Turkey and marry her due to immigration laws, and became her best friend. She could've stayed in Bulgaria and married him, but her parents were dying and the only way she could save them was to go in Turkey, because the healthcare system there was better. She left him, and they never got married. Very bad choice. This also leads me to believe the husband might've had mental illness and possibly abused her. My grandma didn't see this from first-hand experience. She was told that by a friend of the guy who went to see her. I could possibly seek information from him, but it's unlikely that they'll ever meet again or see in social media his close ones. One last bit of information although. My grandma, doesn't know where she lives, and maybe neither do the people who she got the afterstory about her from. For all we know, she could've moved to a different place, but it's very much possible that she stayed there, due to the lack of freedom Turkish house-wives were given.
The next step if she's alive would be to get in contact with her. For this step I'm totally dumbfounded. I know the risks of contacting people in Turkey that might've totally forgotten about me, how they might call the police or something similar, I am even thinking about the possibility that her husband is even stricter than before and may start. But I am smart and won't consider travelling to there just to see them, or contact them right away before knowing anything, as that would be really, REALLY unreasonable. Social media accounts of her, a friend, or her children (that should probably already be above the age of 18) would be enough.
If someone could redirect me to communities of people especially within that region of Turkey or anything of information, I'd be very thankful. Also if you know someone who knows a similar person or etc, please tell me!

Can you respond with the name? It is like a needle in a haystack, but if you happen to know where in Bulgaria or even where in Turkey this girl lived, it would be very helpful.

Hello, I believe that since the new revamp of the UI in familysearch, the title cap for questions was decreased by 5. The name of the woman in reality is Pembe. A really uncommon name in Turkey as far as I know.

As another followup, she probably lived in western or northwestern Turkey, near the border with Bulgaria. She lived in south-western Bulgaria though. That I'm guessing because when she got visited all the years ago, travel in Bulgaria was limited, so you couldn't go too far (Outside Europe basically). The area in specific where she lived is called "Anadolu"; Anatolia, after my grandma asked apparently. At first I was questioning the validity of all of this, but the region in Turkey that I stated above actually exists, so all of this being deja vu is out of the question.
I want to also mention that I just want to know whether or not she is alive. A message on social media/video call by a close person of theirs is the most I'll ever expect, if I have to be honest. The internet is heavily censored in Turkey, but social networking sites are still in the top 10 of most visited in the country, which is because of the easyness of changing DNS.
Public Death Records before the year 2000 in Turkey are very scarce and usually kept a secret unless leaked, or the person in specific has lived in a country where it's allowed. I've checked whatever I could access on the surface web about that but I got no matches. Other public records say there's no result. Haven't checked everywhere for ones past 2000 although.
Now even with all of this information, a second name which I don't have would be of much help.
Sites about that would be almost out of the question since all of them require a second name or some other identifying information.
I'm going to search even more, but specific sources might help.

@gorgogfish , since half your battle is finding whether she is alive or not, searching in groups that help you connect with living people would be a great way to hopefully locate her.
There is a super resource on FamilySearch that lists a ton of research groups either on FamilySearch or Facebook, or other places. I have found success in joining Facebook groups in the area of my research. People there have helped me connect with people, records, and ideas.

@ifyerhappyanduknowit Hey once again! I was busy with quite a bit in the past week and I didn't have much time to respond. I've lost the fight again with this. There are no research groups for turkey listed in the wiki, and while there is a "misc" one, there are only about 400 members and i don't know exactly if i am gonna get a useful response.
As I said, accessing Facebook in Turkey isn't something that you can do like typing "facebook.com" there, it's a bit more complicated. But I said social medias are still relevant.

@gorgogfish , that is so unfortunate that there are no groups for that area. I was thinking that if others that used to be in that area were in different locations now, they might remember her and give you some information to go off of. If I think of anything else, I will let you know, but for now, I'm stumped!
