I searched for tutorials and found an extensive list of help videos, the problem is there are so many that I don't know where to start. I'm hoping that someone can suggest three or four videos that would give detailed instructions on how to navigate the various features. It would be very helpful to know which tutorial/s would be the best to begin with.

Thank you for the question, Charles. This week is RootsTech, the largest family history conference in the world, sponsored by FamilySearch. There is a lot of content specifically fo getting started on FamilySearch. You can browse and search classes, all for free. Please check that out and see if that may help you get started. There are many features, so hopefully you can find specifically what you are looking for. https://www.familysearch.org/rootstech/rtc2021

Yes, I signed up for RootsTech and have browsed through the many classes, I can see that this is very helpful. My problem though is that I am just trying to get step by step instructions on how to navigate through the process of creating my family tree. Much of it is quite intuitive, however there are some aspects that are quite confusing. For example, the "Source Linker" is very busy to the eyes, and I have avoided it out of fear that I would corrupt the current data. I have spent a great deal of time searching for "detailed" instructions, both text and video without success. Another situation is with my parents, they are connected as husband and wife, when in reality they were not married. The instructions that I found said that this could be corrected, but the dialog box that I found does not appear to have a way to simply change their status from married to unmarried. Is there a central location that has detailed instructions on how to do the day to day business of putting my tree together?

Thank you for the reply, @Charles Larkins. Let me take a look and see about getting you some specific content...
- How to Use the Family Tree (blog hub page with a lot of details)
- All About the FamilySearch Family Tree (blog hub page)
- Searching the blog, you may find some of the instructions you are looking for. Also, in general, errors can be fixed or reversed, if you make a mistake. I did a search for "source linker" and found this, that my help you.
- This community with all the other groups can be a helpful place to ask questions as well.
- In the case of your parents not being married, you can add a parent to you that is not a spouse.
- First, got to your person page and scroll down to see the "Family Members" section. Take a screen shot, or simply copy the PID numbers, just in case.
- Copy the PID number from one of your parents
- Then remove the relationship between your parents by clicking the pencil edit icon to the right. Select "Remove or Replace" and proceed.
- Next, click "Add Parent" and add by the copied PID number of the previously removed parent. screenshot attached.
- Now, you should see your parents, but they are not "husband and wife" in the tree.
Does that help? Thank you for asking! Thank you for using FamilySearch!

Mitch, this is very helpful, thanks for taking the time to gather this information. I really did search the Help area, but quickly was lost in a maze of pages where none of them took me directly to the help that I needed. I've done a quick browse of the links you sent and will go into more detail over the weekend. 😎
