How do you find information from Canadian census in 1940 through 1960
My mother lived in British Columbia from about 1931 to 1952. Her grand parents lived in Canada all their lives and I have census data from them up to 1911. I am looking for data for their time in about 1931 through 1951 while they lived in British Columbia.
With the Statistics Act sealing census data from 1926 to current how do you access this data or do you?

It is very frustrating that information comes to a halt in 1926. I have the same problem. I was advised that the voting lists/electoral rolls for many years are available online and possibly Ancestry. As my great aunt is believed to have married again I don't have her new surname to do this search. What I did find was an entry of her return journey from Canada to the UK in 1928 in the shipping/immigration records.
Also obituaries can contain lots of history. Try the online newspaper archives. Good luck.

Thank you very much for the suggestions and response. I'll give some of these a try today and keep looking around.

Just a bit of information about the Canada Census:
The historic Canada Census records are held by Library and Archives Canada, and are available at their website, up to 1926:
Censuses - Library and Archives Canada (bac-lac.gc.ca)
The Census is normally taken every 10 years, 2021 being the most recent. The Census is the responsibility of Statistics Canada (federal Agency).
At the Archives site the following is stated:
"Census returns after 1926 are in the custody of Statistics Canada. The Statistics Act and the Act to Amend the Statistics Act do not permit the disclosure of personal information from post-1926 census returns. The only exception is for people who require information about themselves, for pension or other legal purposes."
Perhaps phone book/ home address records for the city/location in the 1931 to 1951 time period may be of help. The City/location library where they lived might assist. One such set of directories are called 'Vernon directories'. Perhaps this might be of some assistance.
