🔔 Tips and Tricks for the New FamilySearch Community
Welcome to the new FamilySearch Community platform! It will take us all time to figure out the ins and outs of the community, and the group pages, so here are a few things to help you.
- You must Join the group in order to create a discussion (ask a question) and to comment (answer).
- The left side tabs will be your best friends - particularly "My Feeds" and "Groups"
- It might be helpful for you to bookmark the Family & Community—Connect & Inspire! group.
- Group Resource Links are along the top of the each group main page - please scroll sideways to see everything
- To private message people, please click on the "envelope" in the top right corner.
- Currently you will not get notifications of discussions unless you created the discussion, or you were tagged, or you commented in a discussion.
- To get notifications of these: Click your Avatar icon in top right corner, click "Edit Profile," click "Notification Preferences" (click what you want), click "Save Preferences"
- Please post your questions by clicking on the blue "New Discussion" tab and then "Save."

I note the word "currently" above in #4. Will we eventually be able to choose to receive notifications as before when new posts are added to the group so we know what's being discussed, rather than having to check all subscribed groups every day or two for new posts? That was a VERY helpful feature. Unless I'm misunderstanding #4 above, a new important post that many might be interested in would not be known to anyone except the original creator or any subsequent respondents to it. If that feature could be added back in again as an opt-in, that would be great!

Hi @Chris Schmink! Correct, it is a feature that we hope to have soon, and I know we will all savor the moment when it arrives. In the meantime we need to open the community groups that we are interested and look at the conversations. Thank you so much for your patience as this platform continues to grow and work through some of the kinks.
