“Mr. Montgomery” & “Shorty” 1950s Montgomery, AL boarding house/rooming house 1952-1957
(Please click expand post below) I know this is a long shot but I’m searching for info on a couple of gentlemen from the Montgomery AL area who were friends of Louise Marcus Shiflett and/or David Long Shiflett. The men are only known to me as “Mr. Montgomery” and “Shorty” (that’s what my dad remembers). They Would have been adults during the 50s (est ages maybe 30-40 yrs old) they lived in, owned or stayed at a boarding house/rooming house near the Mobile River in Montgomery, AL during the 1950s, The house would’ve been somewhere in the vicinity of 233 Riverside Dr,
29 Pill St.
64 Gunter
781 Sayre
A nursery owned by Mr. Pfingstahl?
Guy Kimbroughs Service Station
The Golden Grill Cafe
Lee’s Grill
Many of these locations/addresses/streets no longer exist/have changed names. If anyone can assist me with this or if anyone has any ideas/suggestions as to how to find out where this house was and/or who Mr. Montgomery and Shorty were, please let me know 😊 thank you all very much!!!

As a quick search, I tried your Pfingstahl. There is a Mrs. Birdie Pfingstl who owns a nursery in 1954. She lives at and runs the nursery at 2501 Willena Av. If you are looking for where in Montgomery these streets are, at least this Willena Av address is still in existence. See: https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/2501-Willena-Ave-Montgomery-AL-36107/124279828_zpid/ to see that it was built in 1940.
Surely, you will find some information on other people in there as well!
You can put the street names in the 'keyword' box to find them.

@Anne LoForte Willson holy cow!! Thank you‼️ YOU ROCK‼️ I think i searched those before and I couldn’t find them. I’m gonna check again as soon as I can. And yes my grandfather worked at that nursery for a short time. Or that’s what he had written on his job application for the Alabama State Highway Dept.
