I found this in an old newspaper... I'm wondering if this means Sitka Alaska? and I wonder the meaning of this tradition, how long they do it for and how it was started? Also, if this tradition is the same today? Does anyone know?

@X24 MOM it does look like they are referring to Sitka Alaska. The Sitka people are also a federally recognized tribal government of Alaska that include: Iñupiat, Yupik, Aleut, Eyak, Tlingit, Haida, Tsimshian, and a number of Northern Athabaskan cultures.
I don't know how much of this statement is verifiably true. I know that many native women from Alaska had/have chin tattoos, but I'm working to find more evidence of this mourning ritual. I'll continue researching and let you know what I find out!
