Please help with the translation of Franciscus Navarra's marriage record from the parish of Dubné, Č
It is the second entry on the left, page 154. I can read Anno Dom. 1768 the 24th of July. I think it says Franciscus legitimate son of Franciscum? Nawarra of Dubney then I'm lost. It then mentions his wife Maria Anna legitimate daughter of maybe Adelbert? then I cannot make out the last name at all. Are the mothers of the two listed at all? Does it list the father's professions? Then there is a lot more written. Can anyone translate that? I think I can make out the name Eulesia Janda, is this a mother, a sponsor? I'm curious if it is Janda because another part of my Czech ancestors are Jandas. I would appreciate any help on this translation. Thank you.

On 24 July 1768 was married the young man Franciscus, the legitimate son of the deceased Franciscum Nawarra rusticum (small farmer) from the town of Dubney, with the honest unmarried woman Maria Anna, the legitimate daughter of Adalberti Schoyhol(?) cantris(?).

I now do not think Eulesia Janda? is a name. I am finding it in other marriage records. Maybe it is Ecclesia which is church possibly?

Stephanie, I am copying and reading all my posts and putting them in a word document. On my Franciscus Nawarra post, I believe that Adalberti Scholyhol's profession may be a cantor. I put it in some translators and it said singer. I know a cantor is usually associated with the Jewish faith -a synagogue official who sings or chants liturgical music and leads the congregation in prayer, but I also found this definition - an official whose duty is to lead the singing in a cathedral or in a collegiate or parish church; a precentor. I believe the second definition fits Adalberti. Once again thank you for your help and I hope this interests you.

I'm glad you figured that out! I happen to have a direct ancestor who was a cantor in the Catholic church too. He was sometimes listed as a cantor, a teacher, or a choir master. From my understanding, the cantor may have served as both a choir master and a school teacher.
