Some time ago, several members of our ward received an invitation to receive a subscription to Genea

I was one of the lucky people who received an invite!! I had a conversation on one of the community boards with another person who also did. The one thing I noticed we had in common was that we had previously had an account with them. Mine had expired (I don't know about hers) a few months before and I had not renewed it, so I don't know if that had something to do with it? I don't see a link for members in general to be able to join, like we do with Ancestry, etc.

Thank you Pam. I wonder if that has anything to do with it. However, I don't think I have ever had an account with Genealogy Bank and I did get an invite, but my wife has a current account with them but did not get an invite. Perhaps she will get an invite when her subscription expires.

My understanding is that there were a limited number of invites to Genealogy Bank; kind of a test run. The invites were not generated because of prior memberships. I believe they were random invites from familysearch and only a "few" people got it. Soon, it will be opened up to all members. How soon? No idea. Maybe they are working out the kinks? Maybe Genealogy Bank only wanted to allow limited free accounts to a few to start with? I do know I did not get an official email, but was able to follow a link shared in a FB group that allowed me access to Genealogy Bank.

I have participate in a couple of communities and did receive an invite. I also have a family history calling and am a heavy user of family search. It could be any of those things. Aren’t we blessed to live in this age of record availability.

An invitation went out to top contributors and top indexers. At this time, the membership in general is not being included in this partnership. It may do so in the future, but there is no plan at this time. It has nothing to do with prior subscriptions with genealogybank.com. This was a short window of roll-out invitations and is no longer active.
