InkedGiovanna Fratto Birth Certificate - Gagliano 1885_LI
I recently found the attached birth record which matches the exact birth date, place and birth parents of my grandfather based on his marriage record (also attached) and the birth date and place on his petition for US citizenship. The only problem is the birth record is for Giovanna (a female) not Giovanni.
I don't see anything in the birth record to indicate twins and there no other records in the village of Gagliano in 1885 for a Giovanni Fratto. I suppose it could simply be a record error or for whatever reason my grandfather took his sister's birth date.
Would appreciate hearing from anyone regarding the likelihood that this is just an error or any other possibilities for solving this birth record mystery.
Thanks

Hi @Robert Fratto could you please so kind specify the ID for Giovanni Fratto in your FamilySearch tree (like that GW6V-B53) or write the two links where you found the two acts? I would check some data
Thank you!

The birth record, in a note on its right side, reports the data of the marriage with Firitano Concetta of Oct 10, 1908, coinciding to the marriage act by the same date.
I would then assume that recording Giovanni as Giovanna "di sesso femminino" was a mistake by the clerk.

Thank you Paolo. You are right about the note on the right side which I had overlooked. It does confirm for me that this is Giovanni. I now know that these notes can contain very useful information.

Thank You Massimo for your response and offer to help. As Paolo pointed out, the note on the right side confirms for me that this is Giovanni Fratto not Giovanna. So it looks like just a mistake by the clerk.
