Can we please ALSO have the ability to have a 'Standard' for it WITHOUT the 'Suffix' of "United Kingdom".
[ And, of course, definitely, WITHOUT the "South Gloucestershire" included. ]

I know that it is 'politically' correct ... lets no go there ... I know how (truly) 'complicated' it is ...

But, MY, Ancestors; Family; and, Relatives (even TODAY), consider that they came (or, come) from England, Scotland, Wales; Ireland ...
.
Certainly, at least, up until 1952; being, the coronation of "Queen Elizabeth II" - and, then some, in some cases.

They may consider themselves "British"; but, deep down, they were/are, "English"; or, "Scottish"; or, "Welsh"; or, "Irish" - and, deeply (patriotically) so.

All my 'Maternal' side are "Scottish"; and, dare one say otherwise.

Whereas, my 'Paternal' side are a "Mix", of "English"; or, "Irish"

ps: We need the 'standalone' "Standards" WITHOUT the 'Suffix' of "United Kingdom"; even, if it is just for the "Colours" on the "Fan Chart" for an individuals/persons "Country"of Birth.

[ ie. England, Scotland, Wales; North Ireland, are ALL considered "Countries" in their own right; but, also integral parts of the greater "United Kingdom", sovereign nation ]

UK has been added to British places from 1801 to present. It pleases some, and frustrates others. We're sorry if it frustrates you. The decision was a tough one, but we had to make it.

I am sorry; but, I cannot say 'Thank You'; as, I normally do.
The decision, NOT to include 'Place Names' for, "England"; "Wales"; or, "Scotland", WITHOUT the 'Suffix' of the "United Kingdom", is a TOTAL "Disappointment'.
Unfortunately, such decisions; and, the refusal to reconsider, by 'FamilySearch', has become all too familiar.
In this case (and, the like), for my Ancestor(s), such decision; and, the refusal to reconsider, TOTALLY makes the likes of, the "Colour" of the "Country", in the "Fan Chart", of "Family Tree" of 'FamilySearch' ... ABSOLUTELY ... USELESS.
[ As, as far as I am aware, the "Colour" of the "Country", in the "Fan Chart", of "Family Tree" of 'FamilySearch' is dependent upon the "Standardised" 'Place Name' - NOT that, as 'Entered' (and, "Standardised") ].
The aforementioned is "Obviously" NOT taken into consideration, by 'FamilySearch', for such 'Decisions'.
As, I previously mentioned, my Relatives (and, I am certain, my Ancestors) WOULD consider that they are from, "England"; "Wales"; or, "Scotland"; and, certainly NOT the "United Kingdom".
And, regardless, "England"; "Wales"; or, "Scotland", ARE "Countries" in their own right.
Along with "Standardised" 'Place Names' for, "England"; "Wales"; or, "Scotland", with the 'Suffix' of the "United Kingdom", there SHOULD be "Standardised" 'Place Names' for, "England"; "Wales"; or, "Scotland", WITHOUT the 'Suffix' of the "United Kingdom", in just about every case.
Really SAD.

There are still standardized place names for each of the countries (without UK) in the time period before 1801. Are these not appearing as select options for you?
