There is a change coming to AncestryDNA soon. It will take effect in early August. Ancestry is going to be changing their algorithms to improve quality of DNA match results. That’s wonderful. But they also will be removing all 6 cM and 7 cM matches. (According to another post I came across at a different blog, this might also include some 8 cM matches—I guess they round off matches to the whole number.)
These distant can be very helpful and important to people with ancestors from Europe. We don’t have as many matches as those who have had ancestors in America for centuries.
You may want to save some of the 6-8 cM that you have. They will be saved if you have “added a Note” or “put them in a group (colored dots). Some distance matches you may want to save are those who share a “Common Ancestor”, have a surname or location you are researching, have a nice size tree, or are connected to your “True Lines”. Randy Seaver has some very helpful information in one of his posts at Genea-Musings discussing this. Go to https://www.geneamusings.com/2020/07/ancestrydna-changes-coming-soon-what-im.html . Included in his post are hints for saving some of those matches. He also includes links to other blogger posts on this subject.

And I just found out that Ancestry.com is implementing a new message center, and when I checked on my messages and then clicked on "all Messages" and scrolled down I got this message: "Your messages are now located in our new message center and can be viewed by recipient.
Your 1 folder and messages from our previous system will be available to download and save until August 31, 2020." and green bar to "Download Folders". So I'm assuming if you don't download these mentioned messages they will disappear? Just letting everyone know. You might want to download those messages to your computer.
