Native American traditions emphasize oral history--stories of people, customs, and traditions passed down through generations. You might find that a family member was involved in an oral history project such as the
American Indian Research Project at the South Dakota Oral History Center:
This database offers archives of nearly 2,000 interviews with Northern Plains Indians. Be sure to also check with the area historical society or library. Even if you are unable to find an interview with an ancestor, you are sure to discover valuable tribal history.

Another place to find oral histories is on Family Search, you will find them on the tool bar click on the Search then click on Genealogies. One thing to remember is that Family Search typically follows the Soundex System. This helps to pull up names that sound alike.
