Hello! I would love some assistance with translating 2 birth records from the 1870s.
I'm researching my husband's family and think I may have found some non-indexed birth records of family members dating to the 1870s on FamilySearch. They were from the Altomonte, Cosenza, Calabria region. I can make out some of the names, but would love a second opinion to confirm. They are the records for Maria Giuseppe Mastrolorenzo and Pasquale Mastrolorenzo - Sadly, I believe the father may have been unknown in both cases. Thank you!

You are correct, in both cases the father is unknown.
In the case of Maria Giuseppa, it is explicitally said that the father is a non-married man and "not a relative in any degree that would forbid the recognition of the baby". On the left note it also says that Maria Giuseppa married Giuseppe Ferraro in Altomonte on March 31, 1899.
The birth record of Pasquale doesn't say anything about the father, the fact that the baby is given the mother's family name meand however that he is unknown.
No side annotation regarding his marriage or death.

PS: the phrase "not a relative in any degree that would forbid the recognition of the baby" does not really mean what it says.
It's a standard formula and does not really exclude anybody, relative or married man, from paternity!
