The note says that the father could not declare the newborn as he was absent from town, and the birth was instead declared by Marianna Del Monte (not a professional midwife, though) who assisted the mother at childbirth.
She could not sign being illiterate.
FYI, in a certain number of similar cases I found that this "absent from town" was a sign that the "legal father" had emigrated (or "disappeared", or both) and the biological father was someone else that law forbidden to name.
Date of birth (1893), at the peak of the great Italian migration, makes this not such a remote guess.

Thank you so much, Paolo! I know that the father (Giuseppe Domenico Filomeno Damiani) came to Brazil but dos not stayed, he returned to Italy, so makes sense the "absent from town"... In the birth record of all the other nine brothers Giuseppe was the declarant. But I didn't understand why maybe he was not the "biological father"..... The note says something about it? And if yes, why this "forbbiden by law" to name the legal father? Do you know? Thank you again!

I had a look at the tree of Giuseppe Damiani, and I agree with you that he was only temporarily absent from town.
I have seen some cases where the husband emigrated and the wife remained alone in the original town.
After a few years she gave birth to some other children, obviously not from her husband, that never returned home.
However they were always registered as been his children.
This is because, at the time, a married person could not recognize legally a child he or she had made with a person (what I called the "biological" father) that was not his/her spouse.
In any case nothing of all this is never mentioned in any official document.
