I just looked in the white pages for Italy and there are no Cangelosi living there with a telephone today. The name also appears in the records of my home town Godrano Sicily and in Cefala Diana not to far away from Godrano in the earlier years

Godrano and Cafala Diana are about 56 km. away from your town of Petralia Sottana. My 5th great grandmother was Rosalia Cangialosi she married Sebastiano Terrano before 1721 and died about 1833. They had a daughter Filippa Terrano who married Vincenzo Perrone and were my 4th great grandparents. Today most of the Cangialosis either immigrated to the USA or South America. Those remaining in Palermo Province mostly live in the city of Palermo.

The family definitely was living in Petralia Sottana although as stated above they likely are not currently living in that area: http://italia.indettaglio.it/eng/cognomi/cognomi_sicilia.html. You might have to go to the parishes if you do not find the records you want.

Thanks for the information. Based on the link below from A.M.Pili there are quite a few Cangelosi’s in Sicily. They must not have listed numbers.

My sister and i just when thru the 1875 birth records for Petralia Sottana and found our grandfather's record. A.M.Pili, THANK YOU so much. We have interpreted some of it, but there are some words that we cannot decipher. We'll keep working on it.We could not find his brother, Giuseppe, born in 1884, but maybe he was born in a different town.
