How to seal a deceased child to living parents?
Please help! I'm helping a family who has a son that died at childbirth and wasn't born into the covenant. The family is now worthy to enter the temple and has been sealed to their other children, but not their little boy.
How can the parents create an ordinance card to seal him to them? They have created a familysearch profile for him, but it says the "sealing to parents" is unavailable.
I have talked to several local leaders and consulted the church handbook, but no clear answer was given.
Thank you!

If the child was stillborn, sealing is not available.
If their is a birth certificate and a death certificate, enter that information in the FamilySearch record. The only ordinance available will be Seal To Parents.
The only other thing that I can think of that may prevent FS from producing an ordinance card is that the parents are living. If that is the case, the birth and death records can be taken directly to the temple.

As 'Willis' has already proffered ...
.
When you say that the Child "... died at childbirth ...", do you mean that, (1) the Child was, either, "Stillborn"; OR, (2) died a short time (ie. after a 'breath')?
.
The answer to that question is critical.
.
As has already been indicated; IF, the Child was "Stillborn"; then, NO "Temple" Work is required/done.
.
Here are some "Knowledge Articles" in "FamilySearch":
.
Temple work for stillborn babies
.
Where it states:
Quote
----------
Stillborn children (children who die before birth) do not need temple ordinances.

.
How do I add stillborn or miscarried infants in Family Tree?
.
Whereas; IF, the Child "Lived" (even, just took a single 'breath'); then, the "Temple" Work can be done; although, ONLY the "Sealing to Parents" is done/required.

Temple work for children who die before age 8

I hope this helps.

ps: Your local Leader of the Church SHOULD be FULLY aware of this.

If the child was living but died shortly after, when they make the reservations with the Temple Presidency, they need to tell them about the deceased child, as well as all other living children. As stated above the birth and death record will be taken to the temple and a special ordinance document will be made out for that child. I have actually seen one of those as a witness this past year for a couple myself. It was a very special sealing.

This is classed as a living ordinance and you don't print off the ordinance card visa family search.
They need to contact the temple and book the ordinance directly, because they are still alive.
