I'm looking for more information about the vital records in Gerani, Crete, Rethýmnis, Greece. I've joined the Hellenic Greek Geek group on FB and have had success with translations. I'm getting mixed feedback whether or not I will have access to records.
I've reviewed WIKI and the GAK. I've watched the recent videos posted on the HGG FB page to learn more. After I posted a letter to the mayor of Gerani for typographical review, I have received unsolicited PM's saying that the records were burned. I'm specifically looking for a George Sklompanokis born around 1850-60. I've made contact with a relative to this family on FB who is willing to give names only. He said the information I was seeking was impolite. I wanted DOB, DOD and Marriage...can anyone advise?
