How and where can I find the military records of my great grandpa Sante Carniel? He immigrated to Brazil as a child. When he was 21 got called by the Italian Government to serve in the army. He was from Motta di Livenza. Thanks

The military records are normally kept at the Archivio di Stato of the province.

Motta di Livenza belongs to Treviso and the Archivio seem to have many military records available on line.

There is here a Sante Carniel and you can check if he is your ancestor. If he is, I then suggest you send an email to the Archivio asking for a full copy of: the "Registro Matricolare", the "Foglio Matricolare" and the "Liste di Leva".
